Product design and engineering
Good plastic parts are designed for the mould that will make them. Our design work is done by the same team that builds the tooling, so what we draw is what can be made, reliably and at the right cost.
What we do
- Concept development from a sketch, a sample or a written brief
- 3D CAD modelling of parts and assemblies
- Rendered solid models for presentations, approvals and sales material
- Complete 2D drawing packages for the part, the mould and any jigs
- Design changes that reduce material, cycle time or assembly steps
- Information to support costing before you commit to tooling
How a design project runs
Brief
We meet to understand what the part must do, where it will be used and the quantities you expect.
Concept
We prepare an initial design and discuss material, wall thickness and how the part will be moulded.
Detailed design
The approved concept is developed into a full model and drawing package.
Costing and approval
You receive a quotation for tooling and production based on the final design.
Into the toolroom
Once approved, the design goes straight to our toolroom for mould manufacture.
What to send us
Anything that helps us understand the part is useful. That can be a hand sketch, photographs, a physical sample, or existing drawings. We accept drawings as PDF, and files for our design packages in PPF format.
If confidentiality matters, we are happy to sign a non disclosure agreement before you share anything.
